Carece de vida interior a no ser que se empleen técnicas estadísticas muy complicadas.Las matemáticas brindan estructuras que son demasiado regulares, y que son inferiores a las exigencias del oído y la inteligencia. La gran idea es poder introducir aleatoriedad con el fin de romper la periodicidad de las funciones matemáticas, pero estamos recién en el primer paso.
La mano en sí, se encuentra entre el azar y el cálculo. Es tanto un instrumento de la mente (tan vinculado con la cabeza), como una herramienta imperfecta.
Los productos de la inteligencia son tan complejos que es imposible depurarlos con el fin de someterlos completamente a las leyes matemáticas. La Industrialización es depuración forzada. Pero siempre se puede reconocer lo que ha sido creado industrialmente y lo que se ha fabricado a mano. Industrial significa bien definido, funcional, pobre. La mano aporta riqueza íntima y calidez. "

"What is obtained by calculation always has limits. It lacks inner life, unless very complicated techinques are used. Mathematics gives structures that are too regular and that are inferior to demands of the ear and the intelligence. The great idea is to be able to introduce randomness in order to break up the periodicity of mathematical functions, but we're only at the beginning.
The hand, itself, stands between randomness and calculation. It is both an instrument of the mind -so closed to the head- and a imperfect tool.
The products of intelligence are so complex that it is impossible to purify them in order to submit them totally to mathematical laws. Industralization is forced purification. But you can always reconize what has been made industrially and what has been made by hand. Industrial means are clean, functional, poor. The hand adds inner richness and charm."
